does anyone know if the watchtower has ever claimed to be inspired?

i know that they claim to be directed by holy spirit, which means the same as being inspired, but have they ever used the word inspired?

Good comments.. I think it doesn't really matter what they claim because if they want complete obedience to every doctrine and every elders whim, which they do, then they are claiming perfect even without saying it. Part of the game is not to actually say it, but to imply it.

just curious,if anyone dosent mind sharing..myself,id been out in the real world for 11 years,married twice,etc etc,and the 'trio of guys in bad suits' came over one night and told me that i was being charged w/adultery and fornication..my then boyfriend,and i laughed so hard that we forgot to sic the dog on 'em...funny,cause one of the guys id lived with,a few years prior,an elders son,not baptized,but in good standing,never got even so much as a stern talking to..i remember one of the last meetings i went to as a teenager.the 'trio" came to my parents house and said that i wasnt to come to meetings braless anymore,that it was disturbing the brothers and making them have impure thoughts..and that by me being in a band,in the 'world',i was opening myself to satan...what a bunch of weirdos.especialy since one of my "fondest" memories is of being out in feield service,alone w/an elder,and him having his pants open in the car,and his penis sticking out the whole time.i was like 10,and wasnt sure exactly what the issue was,guess i was a bit naive,but he kept touching it and looking at me..this was a big cheese elder at the time too..very highly thought of and all..again,what a bunch of wierdos....

i don't mean this as an insult, more of a life experience thing.

i saw a lot of people leave in my years there and a lot were angry with the religion and the people, and some even protested the kingdom halls and wrote things in the newspapers.

a lot though, came back in time, as it was just the comfort zone they felt at ease in.

Can't go back because I don't believe the same anymore, and don't like the way they treat members in secrecy. Don't like being ordered what to believe, I think Jesus is my mediator, not the Borg....treat woman like second class. There is no love because they are all afraid to be close. and no love for anyone else because they are 'worldly' and of Satan's world. And the prophesies are all WRONG. No I can't go HOME anymore.........

on february 20, 2001 a young girl, tempest smith, committed suicide after being relentlessly taunted and teased for practicing her religious beliefs, wicca.

please donate to her foundation if you can (www.tempestsmithfoundation.org), and wear a black ribbon for tempest on feb. 20th.. what is remembered, lives.. .

i remember tempest smith.. i remember that it's never right to make fun of someone's beliefs.. i remember that sticks and stones can break my bones, but names are.

My experience with beliefs...is they are as uncontrollable as the color of our eyes, almost ....Like homosexuality, you don't choose it. People can't yell it out of you. If you really think someone's belief system is wrong, kindness and respect and acceptance of the person is the only option I can see. Anything else is futile. My mom would say to me (about JW's) "Why couldn't you have chosen another religion?" I would respond.. "I didn't choose it, it chose me." What can I say? And only God knows if a persons belief system is really wrong or right anyhoo....

Okay, I see what you mean....so sometimes...we have to FIGHT for these things.. so it's not that simple....Maybe it's that these things, I mentioned can be our objective but to get there takes some fighting and unrest. ????

with the proliferation of blogs and forums like this one, ex-jws writing books and protesting, lawsuits, exposure of abuse, pedophilia, and mind control, what more needs to be done to sink this cult and kill it?

do the ex-jehovah's witness have enough momentum to destroy any remaining credibility the watchtower society has, or perhaps, bankrupt it?

WHAT HAS JESUS BEEN DOING AS ENTHRONED KING since 1914?

not much.. he is directing the watchtower society to print magazines that contain errors.. the goats he separated from the sheep have had to be put back in with the sheep because of policy changes.. stray sheep have been ostracized and turned into lamb stew.. the war to end all wars (wwi) has been followed by wwii, korea, viet nam, and the cold one.

(no need to mention the war on terror.).

there have been earthquakes, famine, disease and a lot of marrying and eating at fine restaurants.. 1925 came and went without any ancient worthies moving in to the residence at beth sarim.. the world got so dangerous in 1975 nobody noticed it.. the generation that saw all the signs and wonders has been dropping dead like flies.. brothers and sisters who use to serve jehovah and reverence jesus now know it is the governing body who calls the shots and jesus is only "a" god with a widdle "g".. the preaching work has been so successful that not one person in a hundred can give a coherent answer to what jehovah's witnesses actually believe.. hundreds of books printed by the watchtower society have begun with the stale adam and eve story and thousands of jw's have nodded off at meetings hearing it all for the umpteenth time.. the end has been "near" but, the answer "to what" needs shaping up a bit.. jesus use to be clean shaven, but, now has a beard like christendom said he did.. the superior authorities use to be jesus and jehovah, but, now they are the earthly governments just like christendom said they were.. all in all, as ceo of the hottest most wonderful government ever known to mankind (albeit invisible) jesus hasn't had a hit since wwi and is turning into the biggest disappointment since milli vanilli.. tsk tsk tsk.. .

Don't you think that Jesus' presence and all the way to the great tribulation would wrap up rather quickly.....The bible says in Math. 24:34.."Truly I say to YOU that this generation will by no means pass away until all these things occur."

One definition of "generation" in my dictionary says...: The average time interval between the birth of parents and the birth of their offspring.

So maybe a 20 year span? Let's see 1914 was 92 years ago.. Don't buy it.
